Job Description
Our client is a market leader in the nuclear power industry and they are looking to recruit a graduate into to work as a Group Tax Analyst (Compliance and Reporting).
 
This role will report into Deputy Head of Group Tax and will be based from their UK Head Office near Slough.
 
Your key responsibility will be to support Group Tax Managers in performing the Group’s UK tax compliance and reporting activities, including corporation tax, VAT, Customs and employment tax-related activities as well as tax reporting under FRS101 and IFRS.
 
Main responsibilities of the role will be:
  • To support the preparation of the Group’s UK tax returns and filings, comprising corporation tax returns and computations, PAYE, PSA and P11D returns, VAT and Customs returns and EC sales lists.
  • To support the preparation of tax analysis and disclosures for the Group’s externally reported interim and full-year results under IFRS, and also for the standalone accounts of the Group’s UK subsidiaries under FRS101.
  • To support the tax input into the Group’s budgeting and business plan forecasts.
  • To support other tax projects including Research and Development tax incentive claims; capital allowances analyses; and compliance with Senior Accounting Officer rules.
  • To assist in the preparation of tax policies and procedure documents and transfer pricing analysis and reports.
  • To perform UK tax analysis as required, under the guidance of the other members of Group Tax and working with external advisors where relevant.
To assist in providing tax support to other teams within the organisation.

By training whilst working, you will get exposure to a broad range of tax compliance and project work, from understanding business requirements and sourcing data from a variety of business functions, through to implementing transactions, completing tax returns, and recording the tax result in our accounting systems and externally published accounts.

The Group Tax department comprises seven UK based tax professionals from a range of backgrounds across accountancy firms and household name international businesses, having specialised in a variety of different UK and international taxes.  Through this wealth and breadth of on-hand experience, you’ll quickly start to build your tax technical knowledge, to compliment your study towards professional qualifications.

The business will provide company funded training through a professional training provider, together with paid time off for you to study for accountancy and / or tax qualifications.
Qualifications
  • A good degree in a relevant discipline
  • Some relevant work experience would be useful
  • Already studying or keen to study for an additional qualification in tax or accountancy.
  • A high level of competency with MS Excel (including in particular use of formulas) is vital.
  • Some experience of Alphatax and SAP would be desirable but is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Numerate and analytical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be able to deal courteously and professionally with staff at all levels in the organisation.
  •  Desire and ability to learn; to grasp new concepts quickly; and to follow instructions accurately and with the minimum of error.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the role; a thorough approach; and a pride in the quality of your finished work.
