Essentra is a leading international supplier of specialist plastic, fibre, foam and packaging products with three Strategic Business Units: Component Solutions, Health &Personal Care Packaging and Filtration Products. Every day they produce and distribute millions of small but essential components. Their products may not be noticeable – or even recognisable – but wherever you are, their business is all around you. Their international network extends to 33 countries and includes 53 principal manufacturing facilities, 64 sales and distribution operations and 5 research & development centres.

They are looking for a Graduate accountant to deliver accurate and valuable financial information to the senior executives, board and stakeholders by working as part of a professional finance team.

Based initially from their office in Milton Keynes you will join their graduate development programme training alongside graduates from across the globe as well as being given the opportunity to train in key international locations. The role has considerable exposure to Essentra’s senior management and will be mentored by qualified staff in the team. 

Principal tasks:

  • Involvement with all aspects Essentra’s consolidated financial and management reporting including:
    • Weekly sales and net debt report.
    • Monthly ‘flash’ revenue report, full financial submissions and executive reporting pack.
    • Annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts.
  • Responsible for the interaction with a number of Essentra’s operating divisions to advise on accounting and reporting matters and to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Review and preparation of report summarising compliance with the Group Finance Control Checklist.
  • Preparation of key elements of Essentra’s published financial statements.
  • Skilled user of the group’s consolidation system (Cognos controller)
  • Critically review existing processes to facilitate improvements in the work of the group finance team.
  • Ad hoc analysis to provide valuable financial information to non-finance users.

You will be fully supported with study assistance towards the CIMA qualification including fees and day release as part of this role


  • Minimum 2:1 degree (any discipline) and strong A-level results.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively within finance, across functions and globally.

  • Flexible and motivated team player who manages and meets deadlines.

  • Strong analytical ability and attention for detail combined with an ability to take a high level strategic view.

  • Some work experience in a financial or accounting environment is desirable.

  • Willingness to relocate in the future to take advantage of career development opportunities.
