Job Description

Our client is a market leader in the FMCG cosmetics and healthcare market. They are looking for a graduate to work in a Supply Chain role as a Value Added Services (VAS) Project Lead, based from their UK Head Office in Birmingham.

This role will involve some travel between sites so a full driving license would be ideal.

Role Purpose

Manage and oversee the team responsible for all repack activities to ensure goods are produced in line with the business requirements, quality standards maximising service at the optimum costs whilst driving continuous improvements in the operation and adhering to all Health and Safety requirements. Manage key projects within the VAS (Value Added Services) team delivering key NPD and supports the VAS team on all administration tasks.

Main responsibilities of the role will be:

VAS Project Management

Reporting to the VAS Manager, manage key projects within the VAS team from developing and create project plans to provide clear visibility of key steps that need to be achieved to deliver of NPD launch.

Acts as a lead contact for projects and manages day to day operational aspects associated to tasks and requirements linked to the project.

Support the VAS team on key administrational tasks and objectives and provide efficient solutions to drive simplicity.

When called upon, supports and oversees the shift operation facility including resources (re-pack staff and third party agency workers) and processes to ensure that goods are produced in line with business requirements, quality standards maximising service at the optimum costs.

Production Scheduling

Supports the VAS administration team to provide the production schedule from the business requirements that are requested from the Demand Planning team and produces a weekly production plan.

Supporting that plan to ensure smoothing of production to reduce costs and monitoring performance during the week and have the ability to adopt the plan to manage the business requirements.

Continuous Improvement

Identifies mutually beneficial improvement initiatives (including processes and systems), in collaboration with internal/external customers (VAS Manager/Customer Supply Manager/Component providers/Procurement) to ensure the efficiency of the re-pack operation is maximised. Design and implement key performance indicators that identify shift/line performance and provides recommendations for improvement driving those continuous improvement plans on site not only within VAS but also across the UK warehousing function to help increase performance and efficiency within the site.


Leads, encourages and motivates third party agency workers within sphere of responsibility to deliver excellent performance and commercial targets, providing feedback to the third party agency on the agency workers for the purpose of their internal processes and work place reviews, so that the re-pack operation benefits from highly motivated well trained people.

Health and Safety

Drives and engages work force in health & safety initiatives on site together with the Health & Safety Manager Northern Europe ensuring a safe working environment.

Ensures COMAH relevant processes are aligned with the Health & Safety Manager Northern Europe and are compliant with COMAH 2015 regulations. Day to Day Management Control and Compliance relating to COMAH.

    • Good degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain or other related discipline
    • Background working in a FMCG business for a minimum of 12 months

    • Project Management experience, ideally of delivering NPD
    • Good knowledge of MS office applications

    • SAP Knowledge
    • Any experience of managing/supervising a team in a warehouse/production environment would be ideal but not essential
